I think that due to the immense popularity of Shut Up and Dance, Walk the Moon may
someday be classified as a one hit wonder. That’s a shame, as this album is
full of indie pop gems. You can’t ask for a much better album aimed at older
teens and young adults who just want to have a whimsical blacklight party in a
forest.
Talking Is Hard is
a wonderfully sequenced album: no a track is in the wrong place, with intrigue
building as the album opens and shifts towards its singles, then moves into the
album tracks and closers. I’ve said this before, but nothing beats a
well-crafted and well-sequenced album. It perfectly capitalizes on the revival
of 80s styled music, with an abundance of synths and soaring melodies.
I won’t even single out tracks for you to refer to. Just
listen to the whole thing and pick your own favourites.
New single and video from Weezer, which also comes from the new album,
Weezer (The Black Album), which as yet still has no release date. The video was directed by
Guy Blelloch and stars
Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz.
